How the hints work
Each daily puzzle comes from a fixed list and changes at midnight Eastern Time, so these hints always match the game you are playing. They are ordered from least to most revealing. Letter pattern tells you how many vowels the word has and whether a letter repeats, which is often all you need to pick the next guess. First letter narrows things down a lot in English, where a handful of starting letters (S, C, P, B) cover a big share of words. Meaning is a short dictionary clue with the word itself left out. The last step shows the first and last letters with blanks in between.

Are these hints for the New York Times puzzle?
No. They are hints for today's Infinite Wordplay daily puzzles, which use our own word lists. We never publish answers to other games.
When do the hints change?
Every day at midnight Eastern Time, when the new puzzles start. The page always shows the puzzles of the current New York day.
Does using a hint break my streak?
No. Your streak only depends on solving the daily puzzle, however you got there. Hints just make the next guess better.
What is the best order to use the hints?
One at a time, and go back to the game after each step. The letter pattern and the first letter are often enough; the meaning usually settles it; the last step shows the first and last letters.
