One grid a day, the same for everyone: six crossing five-letter words with their letters scrambled. Swap tiles until every one is green. You have 15 swaps; the best solution takes 10. A new grid arrives at midnight Eastern Time.
How the daily grid works
Tap two tiles to swap them. Green tiles are right and lock. Yellow means the letter belongs elsewhere in the same row or column (for the nine crossing tiles, in either word). Gray means the letter is not needed in that row or column. Fix the three words across and the three words down before your swaps run out, and every swap you save is a star.
The grids use the 1,500 most common five-letter words from our dictionary, so the answers are everyday words. A program checks every grid so that its shortest solution is exactly 10 swaps, and the daily list already runs 1,100 days ahead with no word repeated within a month.
Streaks, stars and sharing
Solve the grid on consecutive days to grow your streak. The stats button shows your win rate, best streak and how many stars your wins earned. Share your result as a waffle of colored squares with your stars; it never shows the letters. Then try the daily groups puzzle or unlimited grids.

How do stars work?
The grid can be solved in 10 swaps and you get 15. Every swap left at the end is a star, so a perfect solve is five stars. Run out of swaps and the answer is shown.

Is this the Waffle game?
